Our almost camping adventure!

Well as of Friday I  had reservations for campsites at not one but two State campgrounds. The kids wanted camping and so I did well or at least I thought I did. It was time , it had been years and so with help from Lindsay of course. She did all the grocery shopping, laundry done and long weekend there were no excuses. On Sunday bright and early we would head out to Bear Island destination number UNO , well the weather called for high winds and thunderstorms and well I don't go outside in thunderstorms much less camp so Bear Island was not looking good. Then there was a small part of me that wanted to see a mountain or at least head West and so at work on Friday I did a little research and decided on Hanging Rock State Park.  It was Open, check, had many available campsites on a Sunday night and many kid friendly hiking trails. Well or so I thought HAHAHAHa
On Saturday evening we decided Bear Island was out so we packed for Hanging Rock well I had a feeling it was all to easy as packing took about 15 minutes so we set out on Sunday morning I was a bit skeptical that I had it all together. Okay It took four hours to get there the first two hours Owen asked nonstop if we could go home. The kid really does not like to go away from home. We convinced him we were going to see a mountain and so then for the next two hours he asked if we were going to see a Mountain or maybe a Volcano? Are we having fun yet. We arrived at 1:00 pm, and it was awesome. Weather was great! We hiked and as you know there are two sides to every hiking trail , Owen was always on the side in which one wrong step and he would fall off the mountain. As he skipped and ran up and down the mountains falling on every rock as he didn't watch were he went I figured in no time he would loose his steam and then I wouldn't have to worry about him acting like a crazy lunatic ! Well that never happened this kid makes the energizer bunny look bad! Anyway after hiking we headed back to set up camp. I started dinner and just as we got the tent set up it started raining, no problem , dinner in the tent until it was over. Only one small problem the tent was leaking like a sieve and I mean leaking. It was raining in the tent.  Our option was to drive an hour down the hill and get a tarp at which point by the time we got back everyone would be sleeping and if it kept raining we couldn't do a camp fire anyway or just call it a wash and next time bring the tent doesn't leak. We opted for option B put everyone in the car, Carl drove us all the way home and here we are on Monday morning, missing our cool campsite but next time we will be ready for anything!!!!  How did the kids feel, well Owen was sleeping before we even left the campground and slept the entire way home. Caitlin was laughing in pure Caitlin style and Nate just wanted some Chicken nuggets from Wendy's and all was well in the world!
Here are the pictures.
Lots of waterfalls, okay I only hiked the trails to waterfalls. There were lots of trails but we only hit three hikes, we were planning some for today oh well, next time next time!

 Nate and Daddy!

Long Weekend Ahhhhh!

Wow did we need this Carl has five days off work, I have four, the kids have three days off school, the weather is not the greatest it has been cold and rainy for days but it looks like its going to clear out today so no big deal. We told the kids if the weather clears we will take them camping tomorrow night. We are still undecided on location so stay tuned. Last night we made our annual visit to the pumpkin patch. I really thought about taking them to Mike's Farm but after 12 seconds in the car and three arguments I decided the local pumpkin "patch" was perfect! HAHHA and we were home in time for dinner! Everyone got to pick many pumpkins, I think we came home with 8 this year WOW! I sure hope I am not carving all these pumpkins! We better wait for Aunt Ali and Troy to come visit before we carve HAHAHAHA!

 Owen loves the pumpkin patch!

Really

Well he's talking and boy oh boy does he have lots to say. Yep heard everything we said all those years when he wouldn't say a word. Sometimes I can't get him to shut up. He says "REALLY" lots to his sister and brother and sometimes he says "Damn Really" ohhh geeez! Good news is we are the only ones that can understand him so I only hope that everything he has picked up will fade away as his speech gets more clear. This kid does not lack in personality that is for sure. He is the third child and he will be heard! He is a piece of work! We (okay the kids) had an awesome cousins weekend last weekend. Nathan and Caitlin had been doing so well in school so Lindsay kept Owen for all day on Friday and I took Nathan and Caitlin to the seafood festival. We met Charlie, Jack, Max, Carlie and Grayson for an afternoon of fun after school on Friday. Saturday we spent the day at Graysons birthday party, the water slide was huge and the kids had a blast. On Sunday the kids got invited to Mrs. Ann's (swim team coach) house for horseback riding. A dream come true for Caitlin and Owen and Nathan told me how much fun they had. Nathan just asked me if he could go back tomorrow.

You can watch the money dissolve in seconds as you pay for rides!

 Look at those smiles!
What a cute picture

Hello October

Bad Bad Mom didn't do so good with the blog posts. Ali says I need to put more picture of myself on the blog, if I die, my kids will not have any pictures of me. If I die pictures will be the least of their worries hahaha! The house will just be a big pile of socks. I seem to recall my mother telling me from time to time to pick up my socks! Now just tonight I went around the house and I think I collected 10 pairs of socks. I will wait until they get older to start hiding them when I find them right now it would just be a big headache. Someday I will put them in their lunchbox with a note. I found these by the door thought you might need them today! You think that will work ? I know I know someday I am really going to miss picking up dirty socks!!!! Yeah right!
Okay okay so September is over and that is fine with me. Time to get ready for the HALLOWEEN PARTY Yippee.
We had some special guests last weekend. Aunt Cathy visited us from Oregon for two weeks. We had a great time, you know fishing, beach, margaritas, repeat. Oh and who can forget endless hours of go fish. Yeah we know how to have fun around here! Don't worry we were always in bed by bedtime!
OHhh geeez and I almost forgot we took her to the Swansboro High School Homecoming Parade, boy does that leave something to be desired!
Okay on to the pictures of our life!

Nathan has started kayaking by himself lately and he love it!
Caitlin loves reading Owen books and putting him to bed. So cute, this picture is bad.
A heated game of go fish with Aunt Cathy and Aunt Ali oh boy fun fun!
Fishing fishing and more fishing that's all we do around here these days!

 Love this kid!
Pizza night with Aunt Cathy! Good times!
Sunset on Queens Creek, when I am old and I have no more socks to pick up I dream of glasses of wine and sunsets! Oh I am sure I will miss the socks so much!!!!!
