Owen!

Well guess who is going to be Three next month wow can you believe. I can't really say that time has flown by hahaha no Owen I remember everything !!!! He is doing really good at speech, we are having conversations just now he came out and said MOMMY NO WORK! That is one of his favorites, he loves for everyone to be at home hanging out with him. His MLU (words per sentence) has really increased and usually has three words in a phrase more than not with some phrases having 5 or 6 words. He still talks like he thinks for example if the speech person shows him a picture of a a rope. He should say " Daddy ties up his boat with a rope" instead he  says " rope, tie, daddy boat, its really weird but I talked to his speech therapist and she said once we get him saying the sounds and words they will work on that. The brain is a weird weird thing, its amazing how we can make new organs and use stem cells but the brain is just such a complex system that we don't really understand. I guess I can put it on the blog because I put everything else on the blog, he's only three and there are studies which show how delays in speech then delay reading and other basic learning skills and I guess there is a part of me that knows I should be doing more. Its just so easy for Nathan and Caitlin. You should see Nathan's spelling words! I think they are so hard. This weeks words include university, international, continuous, interviewer, intervention, visualize, intermission. Nathan will not study and on Thursday will take the pretest and comes home with a 15/15 never even needing to take the test on Friday. Then there is Owen man he can ride a scooter and bike like I have never seen a 2 year old his gross motor skills are amazing but I have been trying to get him to count to 5 yes 5 for 6 months. Ughhh I sure hope I am wrong and I know every kid is different but , I also know my mom radar has been right about most things.  So here we go to speech and this week I am going to see about putting him in preschool two mornings a week in the fall. I should also start working with Owen when I sit at the table thinking about how awesome it is that Nathan and Caitlin don't need help with their homework! So all is well in the world, Owen is talking and all of us got sick this week except Nathan I know can you believe its like we all walked around holding our breath and Nathan's asthma is doing so well now that he has a new medicine. I checked him on Saturday and he blew 250 into the peak flow meter that is the target for kids his age, we are usually at 150-175!!!! Lets hope this keeps up although nothing brings bad luck like bragging on the blog

Here is Owen's monthly speech bill $550.00 a month, and we took a week off for Christmas  , WOW so glad we have good insurance!

Well another week down, and another month down! Poor Owen still asks "Daddy home? " It was a not the easiest of weeks as I have been feeling a little under the weather. I have been thinking alot this week about the blog. Nathan is really growing up, how long should I keep the blog going? Its a privacy thing , do I owe it to the kids to not post every detail of their childhood on the world wide web or will it be a non issue in 20 years. Oh if only I look into the crystal ball right! I didn't know what I was capturing until I had it, so check this out. Carl sent the kids each a dog tag , so I had the kids pose with theirs. Here is Nathan and Owen, Owen is pretending like his is a gun, and shooting me. Nathan has a pretzel in his hand.

 

Seconds later, Owen spots the pretzel, tries to shoot it and then ...

Look hes not paying attention I can steal it right out of his hand!

He still doesn't know so I will eat it!

Nathan looks at him and laughs. Oh the level of patience that Nathan has for this child is amazing. Owen is just so well no way to describe it just Owen, I think it might make for another post.

 

 

 

 

We had a really fun weekend but it was cold, a footie pj kind night !

We headed to Mrytle Beach on friday afternoon, with Caren, Carlie and Grayson. oh everyone was so excited.

The pictures are not the best quality, the indoor pool is no place for my expensive camera so they are just iphone pics but still good. Here is the view from our room.

This picture was actually when we were leaving, the kids all got to tye die a shirt and they were so proud. Caitlin even made one for Owen. As you can see we were Owen less... but not to worry he had a great time with Granny and Granddad!

 

 

The water slides were the favorite this year.

The girls got their faces panted on Saturday afternoon.  Poor Nathan we had to leave in afternoon as his asthma couldn't handle the indoor pool fumes on sunny warm day but he had a great time in the mornings and evenings so it was fine.

 

 

Guess what Janelle, Jason and Bryn and Morgan were there as well! Oh there were good times had by all!

The magic show was a hit, at one point Aunt Caren was laughing so hard she was crying. Of course Nathan got picked first to help with a magic trick.

Oh the stories! Aunt Caren and I will remember a few for a lifetime. I pulled up and told her we were going to valet as  the parking lot was across the street and we had 2 adults and 4 kids and well I will admit that Carl and I always valet and use the bellman. We had packed enough food for the entire weekend not to mention a bag for everyone. There was no way I was carrying that stuff.  So Caren just went with it and in our quest to find our room after going to the second elevator, the first only went to the 8th floor and then getting the second elevator that ended at PH and surely couldn't be our floor, the valet told us we were mistaken! Yes were on the top floor with all the rooms called the Penthouse but of course we had to pretend like it was only us! Actually I think it was. Anyway if you are in the Penthouse you need to party like its 2013 so we did!

January- who needs it?

Who really needs January anyway, can't we just do without this month, its a waste of time!!!!!

How are those New Years Resolutions going. I have one but I am not telling. Good thing too because I am not off to a very good start!!!!!

 

 

Well another week, I headed back to work this week. Everything went smoothly minus the fact that I find Owen in my bed some mornings and so that makes getting ready a little tough! The kids got these building kits from boy scouts, and Nathan helped everyone build theirs, WOW he is such a big help. Caitlin and Nathan are such a big help. They each have jobs, Caitlin takes care of the dog and fish and Nathan is in charge of trash, recycling and helping with baths. Its a well oiled machine around here!

 

 

 

 

We usually have snack time every night before bed. Cinnamon sugar toast is the favorite among Owen and Caitlin. Nathan prefers a sugary cereal like "Frosty Flakes" as Caitlin calls them and two pieces of plain toast.  Snack time is when I sit down with the kids and we talk, we usually pack lunches together and just hang out.

 

 

Once we put Nathan to bed Owen and I get crazy! We LOVE Peanut Butter so we have peanut butter anything you name it, toast, crackers, or just plain peanut butter! One night Nathan came down and Owen had just finished putting peanut butter in the toaster I was cleaning it up and Nate said " I want a piece of toast but never mind I don't want to die tonight" HAHAHAHA

Happy New Year, I am having trouble posting pictures to the blog I am going to keep  this post short until I figure out if the problem is blogger or on my end.
