Hi Honey,
How are you ? We are having a blast with Grandma. It is hot here but we have spent some time at the beach and the pool. Today we will do something inside as soon as I get some work done. Nate loves to have very long conversations with Grandma it is so cute, not exactly sure what he is saying but he is saying alot. We miss you and can't wait to see you soon.

how are ya? all is well here...i'm out in sc visiting carolyn & her little girl, reagan. her & carlie are having a blast. carlie's latest...she says tank-youuuuuuuu for everything...& good giwwllll (girl)...too funny! right now she is napping, supposedly. the phone was just ringing & i heard her saying hello from her crib! too funny! july 4th weekend was fun, busy too! we went in the boat sat, sun & mon. by tues, the 4th, we were worn out & hung out at home! floated in the pool & recooped (sp?) from the busy days! i'll post pix when i get home to nc. my digital camera has died since i've been out here, so am hoping to shop around & find a new one, asap! anyway, just wanted to drop you a line & say hi, & let you know we were all thinking about you! looking forward to visiting in october! take care:)

Oh what a day

Well we have some good and some bad days yesterday was one of those bad days. It all started when I took Nate to work, it was during his nap and my three meetings ran longer than planned. Nate was not happy about it and started screaming it was so embarrasing. Anyway after a missed nap he was not in the best mood. So many things went wrong I can't begin to mention them all but I got my first bloody nose, this is after mom got the bleeding to stop I would not let her touch me so I walked around with face paint until she cornered me. I am saying so much these days. Mom is not sure exactly what I am say but we have long conversations. Here are a few pics, one of me watching the rain. Dad this crib is getting small might be

Wow Nate's growing like a weed! I'm glad you had fun on the 4th honey! It was just another long day here, but luckily no fireworks haha!

Pops, thanks for typing a message (and finally figuring it out!)! Glad you're getting out and about so much, I'm sure the girls are looking forward to having you visit. Don't forget to plan in your late-fall Fla trip as well, Oct is perfect (as long as there's no hurricane on the way).

Other than that, not much news here just missing Amy and Nate like crazy (and yes the trouble dog too!) and counting down the days until I get home. I had a great two-week experience here during late June/early Jul - can't type much about it here but will tell you about it when I get back. I hope everyone had a good and safe July 4th and I'll talk to you soon!

Carlos, let me try again, this time I'll add a comment!!! I've tried to add to your blog about three times with no sucess, so Caren suggested adding a comment. So much has hapeened including my trip to see George who I am glad to tell you actually played mini-golf for the first time in two years. We went to see Chris and Anna last weekend and had a delightful time on the beach at 100 degrees,it weas just a bit hot. On Monday I'm going to NC to see the girls, should be fun. I decided to stop this time so will have a stolen day, leisurely ride to SC, a nice hotel with a nice swim, a good meal and a good night in a king size bed followed by a lazy drive to pick up Caren who's staying with Caroline in Union SC. A whole day of peace!!!!. How are you doing, working hard I expect and looking forward to home.We are having tiles laid in the kitchen, laundry and breakfast area, easy enough but beyond my knees therefore vast expense!!Love you CarlDad

It is a rainy day here. I am at work on a confrence call so I am muti-tasking. I shoudl be done by noon and then I am going to take mini-p to get a hair cut. Speaking of hair do you have any? Nate chasing birds at the beach, He is trying to walk like the seagull. Look Dad I have climbed to new heights I can make it to the second shelf now. Since mom wasn't proud I am proud of myself!

Mom wants the food on the spoon to go in my mouth but thats no fun so I put it on the floor. As for the peaches in the picture on the right, can you see them. Mom put them in front of me but I move them as far away as possible. I do not want them to contaminate my crackers. The lady is crazy if she thinks I will eat them. She put one in my mouth and I almost died I had to scream for ten minutes and even cry tears. Please come home and save me dad!














Mom gave me this nutrigrain bar, is she crazy I am not eating this thing. I will touch it and make a funny face but no way will I eat it!

Hi Honey,

You can see we didn't get very far in the eating department this week. After a promising bite of cheese nothing else in solid form has passed through those lips. We have managed to climb to new heights and even had some really good falls. A few scary ones for mom including falling off the bed and hitting his head on th end table. Don't worry about me dad I am tough! Well we are counting the days now honey. Not exactly sure how many days to count but we are counting them. Grandma O is coming to visit in a week and we are very excitied about that, Nate loves G-ma time and so does mom. She is dreaming about trips to the swimming pool! Be safe , come home now!

Hello mein bruder!
how are you? not long now, you must be getting excited to see amy & nate! we are too! in october:)) & we sure will be glad to know you are home... do they do anything for you guys for the 4th? special chow at least?? guess no fireworks...

we had a fun day yesterday...(sat)...teddy went fishing in the am w/richie & jason in his boat...offshore a little ways & caught 11 dolphin! that was fun, so fresh mahi for dinner tonight i think:) then they came in at 1 & picked me, carlie, lauren & kristi up (wives, girlfriends, baby!) & we went out until about 6 then came in & swam in the pool! it was fun! cooked out london broil & mahi & donovan & kristine & sam (their little girl) & charlotte, rodney & riley (their little girl) all came over. unfortunately carlie missed seeing her buddies at night b/c she was snoring by the time they got here! but it was fun! mom & michael are coming out w/us today...was hoping claire & gang & lindley & shell, etc might make it out today also, but not sure. depends how her weekend is going w/the tall ships. beaufort has been pretty crazy...saw some of it on tv yesterday...the parade of sail...but missed the big ones..

anyway, just wanted to drop you a line..it is 7 am & i was on my way to get carlie from the crib...she's ready to play!!::)) so sweet! will post pix later:)

We have spent a few days at the camper, thought we would get it in before the ships come. This week is all checkups so nothing exciting will get the results on Thursday. Here is your blog. Working 20 hour days, that can't be healthy. Are we that under staffed over there that people have to work 20 hour days, thats crazy! Don't sacrifice your health for dumb decisions made by people sitting in D.C. getting sleep every night, its not worth it. Okay enough of that, wow we had a great weekend . Longboat Key is a beautiful place. The weather was perfect, warm and sunny with a nice breeze in the afternoon. Our room was on the first floor so during nap time Ali and I sat by the pool sipping drinks and eating chips and salsa. Perfect. We had an amazing dinner both nights thanks to the Janicki's. It was a great time. Poor Nate we were so busy he is so tired. It is 8:00 am and he is still sleeping. I got him out of bed at 5 am this morning to take Ali to the airport and he was such a trooper.

Okay well Carl hope you like the pics, we miss you so much we are going to start counting the days. It will be more fun when we can count the minutes till you get home. Stay safe and get some sleep.

Hi honey, I hope you are posting tons of great pics from the Janicki beach weekend today while Aunt Ali's still there to entertain the little man! I hope you've had a great weekend, I bet it was a blast and it certainly sounded like it when we spoke. I miss you and the little man!

Hi everyone else, I hope everyone's doing well. Staying busy here, have slightly switched jobs which is keeping me even busier than before, working around 18-20hrs a day and sometimes more. But, it'll only be for a short time and then I'll get some sleep. I'm having a great time, though, and getting some great experiences (and yes, I'm staying safe as well!).

Amy, mini-P, and Aunt Ali are all having a great Janicki Environmental beach weekend this weekend at Longboat Key, what fun! I'm at the beach too, but it's just not quite the same here I must admit.

Big congratulations to Teddy for such a great finish in the Big Rock - I'm sure it only whets the appetite for next year! Definitely sounds like he's fishing with the right crew!

Another week

I was a good boy this week, I didn't have a single tantrum since Sunday. Okay well no major ones just the usual. I even stopped climbing on the table. I made moms day yesterday I said MA MA MA . I didn't really say it to her but the words came out of my mouth. Don't worry the next thing I said was DADDDDY , I say that all the time. It is getting closer but not close enough. The week seemed to go by fast. A few sleepless night so I am hoping for some sleep tonight. Nate has had a cold the past two nights and the congestion has made it hard for us to have a good nights sleep. Aunt Ali flys in tomorrow at noon for the Janicki Beach Weekend . I can't wait. just wanted to send a quick note to say hi! have been busy this week...worked mon-thurs (woe is me:)) & just seem to have been on the go! have checked in on the blog, but hadn't had a chance to send ya a note! have been thinking about ya though! hope you are well...stay on that base boy, & stay safe! no more baghdad outings please (if you have a choice!). anyway, teddy finished up w/a good week for the big rock! won 1st place tuna & 2nd place wahoo for the tournament...about $20k for the boat...about $4500 for him...not a bad week! maybe this fishing hobby is okay after all! we got to go to the awards banquet...never done that before! so a great tournament anyway! now beaufort is gearing up for the pepsi sail tall ships...expecting 100,000 people here for it in beaufort! should be interesting! june 28-july 5... okay, gotta run for now, but will post again soon w/new pix!

Hi honey, hi everyone, what's new in the real world? Things remain surprisingly busy here - you'd think they would've slowed down a little after the events of the last few weeks, but they've probably only sped up instead. But, it makes the time go by quickly, and I am definitely counting down the days until I am home with my family again.

Speaking of family...Happy Birthday Pops! Ole Grumpa turns...holy moly, it's 66 this year! I'd like to say that I hope my card's on time...but I know it's a fair certainty that instead it's pretty late...but, at least it's already on its way! Oh well, better luck next year...or maybe Christmas!

I hope this finds everyone well. I'm pretty tired and am going to hit the bed now, but will try to type more in a day or two.

Hi everyone, thanks for the father's day wishes. Honey my pancakes were yummy....except you didn't save me any haha! Wow nate gave you a good one the other day, he even had to lay down it was so serious! Looks like we have a little climber on our hands, I could hear him laughing at how much fun it was to make mom nervous by standing on the ottoman! Funny - at least from here, maybe not so funny when you're trying to keep him safe.

I hope everyone else is doing well. I checked the big-rock web page every day, hope it was as fun there as it looked from here. Not too long now, the days are counting down and I look forward to being home soon. Will talk to everyone later, time for bed as it's almost 6 and the sun is coming up...

Not a lot of news my end. We went to the camper Thursday after work and had wine on the dock it was a beautiful evening. Mike is enjoying working in the campground. I went home to feed the cat after work yesterday afternoon but no sign, usually he comes when I call him so will check again today. We are trying to spend weekends there as the evenings are lovely on the dock. We wish you were here. We got up this morning and made you pancakes and sausage they were yummy. Claire and Blythe walked over and had breakfast with us. Well another week whew this one was tough. The AC broke, I hurt my knee, and this morning Nate was horrible he had 10 tantrums before 8 am. I hope the afternoon is better. We miss you. big rock days 2 & 3

i write my blogs small so i can type more & not be a blog-hog! so like it or lump it!
so, all is well here! day 2 of the big rock...teddy's crew had the 1st place tuna, winning the dock calcutta again ( & lots of bragging right) & also the daily for the 1st place tuna...they are currently 1st w/their tuna for the week & second w/their wahoo from monday for the week! so they are off to a great start! here are pix of his boat owner & his sons w/the 2 fish...

no boats fishing today, alberto is here & it is BLOWING! teddy is at cherry point....he thinks they will lay again tomorrow & fish fri & sat, but we'll see! chuck & crew also weighed a dolphin...3rd place though which does not pay, but still fun to go to the scales & weigh one...as you can see charlie met them there & then got to ride back to the marina on the boat...he was thrilled!

anyway, just wanted to say hi, & keep you up to date! carlie & i went to her doctor for her 18mth checkup today...can't believe she is that old already! time really flies! it is teddy's bday tomorrow, so carlie & i went shopping for him after the doctor...we have been practicing saying happy birthday daddy...but so far it comes out happy happy daddy! too cute! take care, email soon:))

Caren you are putting me to shame with the numerous blogs. I do have an excuse my internet is down at home, I need to call the cable company today and fix the problem. I am at work, I think people get fired for this so I better make it quick. Maybe this counts as a smoking break since I don't smoke. Well we weathered the storm, lots of wind and a few inches of rain but the lights never went out so everything is fine now I guess we just wait for number two. Hi everyone! Lots of blogs to respond to, that's great! First to Amy - boy times have changed haven't they? The hurrican party has become the "play-more-with-Nate-inside" party haha...probably for the better, but boy does that Miller Lite taste good (not that either of us would know right now!)!

Charlie, thankyou very much for sending me a message. I'm sure I can bring something back from Iraq for you, and I promise I will be safe! I can't wait for you to meet your cousin Nate, and he can't wait to meet you either (although you've already seen him when he was a little baby - he's much bigger now!). Can I ask you to do something for me? Can you teach your Aunt Caren how to use normal-sized letters that we can all read on this post? Ha ha ...

Mom, thanks for typing out the note for Charlie, I bet you both had fun! I wish I could post a picture waving hi back to Charlie, but since we don't have cameras out here that's problematic.

And Caren, last but not least - I hope the fishing goes well for everyone this week - it would be great to be in the running! I'll check the big rock web page after this to see how your tues went! And thankyou for the brownies too - haha they were gone in 2 days!! They stayed very fresh, although I think you used a whole roll of saran wrap to make them stay that way - thank you very yummy!!!!

I hope everyone is doing well, Amy survived the storm well with no flooding (that I know of) and only lots of books and games with story, sounds pretty good to me! I miss everyone and can't wait to see you all when I get back.

day 1 of the big rock...teddy's crew won the 2nd place wahoo for today w/a 49 #er. they also won the dock calcutta (a town creek marina competition) for the day...so there should be some cash in it! no blues today for them...2 weighed in...451, 432 - they can be beaten! we'll keep you posted! talked to amy this am...she said the rain was starting, but not much else at that point. looks like it will get here early wednes am, so they guys are definitely fishing tomorrow & we'll see from there! anyway, take care...will keep you posted! love ya, caren

big rock update

teddy went fishing for lady's day on saturday...had a blue marlin...first release of the day...but of course someone else released 2 that day, so no win, but still exciting! he said it was jumping up right near the boat & was really exciting...they took some pix, so if they make it to us i will post some! the tournament is fish 4 out of 6 days, mon - sat. so of course, everyone is watching the tropical storm closely hoping it will get here slowly & they can fish their 4 days before it roughs up the ocean. makes me nauseous just to type it! guess i am not ready to try offshore adventures yet!

am here w/mom & carlie & the boys at claire's...killing time until the pigpicking this evening at 7. we were thinking about you & wanted to type you a note! mom talked to amy this am & she said it wasn't raining yet, but we will keep in close contact w/her from here...did you get the brownies yet?

Storm # 1

This was not supposed to be a storm, so why is the wind blowing harder than it did during most hurricanes and it is not supposed to start until tomorrow. WHy is my cable out and my power has flickered twice in the past ten minutes. CARL COME HOME! Don't worry even though the cable is out , Nate is going to let me read him 8 silly monkeys for the 50th time today. No kidding! Don't worry I have every thing we need for survial, which used to mean Miller Lite and chips and Salsa, now I have Ritz crackers, and cheerios! oh boy!

We've been pretty busy here lately, as I guess you can imagine, but obviously I can't go into any details. In any case, we remain generally as busy as ever, but I still find time to check the blog for new posts! Thanks for posting Mom and Caren - and little Carlie is too cute, all decked out in the 06-line of kiddie swimwear! The pool looks awesome, next time I'm bringing one of those over here with me!!! (now why didn't I think of that before!) Many thanks too to Mom Poe - the cookies are YUMMY!!!!!! I don't know how you manage to ship cookies 3000+ miles and they're still that perfect mix of crunchy and chewy - it must be an art!!! Everyone here says thankyou, I've made sure to share the delicious treats (but I've had my fair share too hahah!). I hope everyone is well there. Good luck to Teddy (and Chuck too, if he's fishing) in the Big Rock this week in Morehead City/Beaufort, wouldn't it be nice to bring home the big one?!!!

check out the pool! & carlie on the back deck in her beach chair, her cool shades, & her floaty swimsuit! we have had a busy week! i only worked mon & fri b/c carolyn was home (teddy's cousin) w/her little girl, reagan, who is carlie's age. we have had a blast...the girls had fun together, the big ones too! busy week ahead also...the big rock! teddy is fishing on the 'sweet margalit', so keep your fingers crossed! his bday is thurs & he brought one to the scales on his bday once, so we are hoping for a lucky day again! not too much else new here...

saw the news this week...guess you got that warm fuzzy feeling we talked about when something good happens at work! i couldn't help but think about you & how you all must be celebrating! success!

Hi Carl,It was great to talk to you last Sunday, I had a good birthday with everyone, only sorry your family were not there with us all. Charlie talks a lot about baby Nate so I share all the pictures with them. Amy sent me great pictures and a lovely birthday card from Nate.Things are very busy here as big rock weekend starts today, the parking lot has four portapotties for the first time I think. I work tomorrow then get Carlie overnight so Caren can go with Teddy to the Captain's party. Sunday I get the boys from Peggy and will take them to the pig picking at the marina in the afternoon and babysit for the evening so busy time, good job I am not old!!!! That's the latest on this end. Mike got a new job working for Tom at the campground so he is happy,he is heading the maintenance team so has traded a ladder for a riding lawnmower.Will talk to you soon. He found the sun coming in the window today and discovered his shawdow he had to sit down and spin around in circles to watch it move it was funny!


Well I thought after he ate a bite of my raisin bread on Sunday we were really going to get somewhere with the food issues this week . We have introduced cheese about 50 times and now he picks it up just long enough to feed it to the dog! COME ON KID JUST TRY IT.

What a week

Nate got a new mega blocks wagon and he even learned how to put the blocks together this week.

Oh wait its only Wednesday. Well nothing much going on just work as usual. Nate's vocabulary has really started picking up this week we say fish sounds like "dish" . He is really good at the d words "dooggeee" "Dadddy" and my favorite night night "nigh nigh". He brings me my shoes at least twice a day as if to say its time to go outside now, usually I give in unless its just to hot. Okay well a stranger asked me if I was pregnant today so I guess I am getting that nice belly or fat ass , not sure which or maybe both.

Did you have fun at the Janicki's pool? I could use a pool around here, in fact I think I'll try to get across base to the pool tomorrow afternoon for some PT, that would be great since it's too hot for anything else. Hmm...

Happy birthday to my mom, she's...well, a little older now that 5 Jun has arrived, maybe we should just leave it at that hahah! Everyone in NC had a nice birthday dinner for her tonight and I even had a chance to call and say hi! See, that definitely makes up for my card being late, right? Right? Anyone? Hmm...

Another exciting Saturday

Hi Honey,
Well Nate was very fussy this morning I think his teeth are bothering him, I have been giving him tylenol. He did take two naps today for a total of 3 hours, after a rough start things are better. After lunch I took him to target and let him pick out a toy, the mega blocks wagon. He pulls the wagon around while I build things. We were thinking about going clubing tonight but I can't find a fake id for Nate. So I guess we will watch TV and push the wagon around the house. OH what fun, I am so bored! Okay well I took some pictures today I will post them later. I have big plans tonight to make you a DVD. Hugs and kisses,

Hi Carl,Iam trying again to send you a note. Talked to Amy this morning she sounded good but Nate was a little fussy. Sorry to have missed your call on Tuesday evening, we were having dinner with our firends as planned to leave Ga on Wednesday. The monkey is off our back yeah. Spent Sun & Mon sorting out all the stuff we took to the mountains but it is all done,next time we go it will be to have a vacation! Love and miss you lots. Hi everyone, making a quick trip to the computer before heading to dinner. I normally try to get to the gym right now but I ran for the last two days and am taking a night off, so I thought I'd post another quick hello! Not much new to say here, still busy, still hot! No beach in site here...

Hi everyone! Just sending a quick post before turning in, it has been a long day and I only had 4 hrs of sleep last night so time to try and catch up a little. Things still going well here, although the heat just saps my energy down - I definitely feel for the guys outside on patrol during the days, it's "ugly" hot out here, our 4th day of being 115 and more to follow for the next few days. Even the evenings are staying warm...

Thanks for the new pictures honey - but poor Nate, he's going to have to live with that picture for the rest of his life! At least I have a good alibi for not being the one to make him wear it hahaha!!! I'm glad you're able to take baby Nate out to the beach, I can't wait to come back and play with him, he always looks like he's having so much fun (I guess you don't take too many pictures of him being fussy!). Anyway, time to go to bed, I'm glad you got your package honey, did I get the right size for the shirts? And did you see the coin - how funny! What does Nate think about the teddy bear? There wasn't much of a selection...

Another day at the beach

Hello,
Well we were off to the beach again this morning. This time we had Robin and Nora join us. It really was the best day ever. The water was like glass and the water was so clear you could see to the bottom. We saw a pod of dolphins playing in the distance. We also saw some very large objects swimming towards us, I think they were very big rays but not one to take chances and they were quite large we headed toward shore a bit. Okay, well don't you just love the hats! We miss you Carl we really hate the weekends without you here its just no fun! Miss you and love you. P.S. We got your package today I love my goodies
